Angelo Lorenz Sykes was born on May 2nd, 2013, at St. James Hospital, in Chicago Heights, Illinois. He weighed 8 lbs. 12 Oz., with beautiful curly locks! His parents, Reginald and Candace were head over heels for him. He was a baby boy, full of sunshine, happiness, and wonder!
Angelo was a happy and calm baby. He was charismatic in his own way. At the age of 3 weeks Angelo moved to Wisconsin, with his parents. He was a thriving baby boy who hit all of his milestones, until he turned 9 months.
Angelo developed seizures and was put into a comatose state for 2 1/2 months, while doctors figured out the cause, and how to stop them. Eventually, the doctors declared that Angelo wouldn't survive and that his parents should say their goodbyes. Reginald and Candace refused to believe these negative reports and fought for their son's health. Angelo had a team of family and friends praying and believing for his recovery.
Angelo triumphed tremendously and beat the odds. Even with the specialized care he needed, Angelo was still the beaming baby boy they knew! The Sykes moved back to Illinois to be around their loving, supportive, family and friends.
Everyone who met Angelo loved him, including his teachers and nurses, who took great care of him. Angelo loved watching Octonauts and learning about how animals help other creatures in the ocean. He enjoyed listening to music. He loved all things "Spiderman," and this interest spread to his two little sisters. Angelo thrived in calm and serene environments. He found great pleasure in outdoor activities; such as taking walks and going to the zoo. Angelo found peace with his family and smiled when having family time, including special spa days with his great - grandparents. Angelo was a favored child who was loved by all!
Angelo left us too soon on December 23, 2023 at Edward Hospital in Naperville, Illinois. He leaves to cherish his memory, his parents: Reginald and Candace Sykes; sisters Layla and Kai; grandparents Robert and Angela; great grandparents; Geraldine (Robert deceased), and William and Joy; honorary grandmothers; Ladonna and Floretta; godparents Ethan and Robin; uncles, Stephen (Lakeshia) and Reginald; aunts, Mariel and Lorie; godsiblings Jocelyn, Jalen and Jael; and an outrageous amount of cousins, great aunts and uncles, and a host of friends.
